Remarques	Onderdeel van het bevolkingsonderzoek aangeboren aandoeningen bij pasgeborenen. In België wordt momenteel gescreend voor mucoviscidose met een algoritme in meerdere stappen (IRT – DNA – IRT fail-safe). Na een afwijkend IRT (immunoreactive trypsinogen) resultaat worden 12 CF-veroorzakende varianten onderzocht op DNA geëxtraheerd uit bloedspots. Een afwijkend IRT resultaat in combinatie met 1 of meer CF-veroorzakende varianten uit dit panel wordt beschouwd als afwijkend screeningresultaat. Als na een ultrahoge IRT geen genetisch varianten worden geïdentificeerd, maar een persisterend hoog IRT op dag 21 wordt gemeten, wordt dit eveneens beschouwd als afwijkend screeningresultaat (fail-safe). Alle pasgeborenen met een afwijkend screeningsresultaat worden verwezen naar een mucoviscidose referentiecentrum voor een zweettest. Het resultaat van de zweettest is bepalend voor de klinische diagnose van mucoviscidose.
